Traveling
Travelling
Some people would choose to spend their time in hobbies like arts & craft, adventure activates, sports and some have the hobby to take a trip to a new place. Many do not realize just how rewarding and incredible travelling can really be. Going to new places is beneficial in all aspects of one’s life -socially, intellectually and even emotionally and it can make your life better and happier in several ways.
Here are some reasons why travelling should be your new favourite hobby:
- Teach you about the world: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” (Saint Augustine). Travelling can teach you more than any University course. You learn about the culture of the country you visit. If you talk to locals, you will likely learn about their thinking, habits, traditions as well as their history.
- Meet new people: During a travel, you automatically come into contact with people that you might never have met before. It’s a great feeling when you realize that you have friends across the globe – friends that you can visit, that can teach you things that may be foreign to you and that offer a fresh viewpoint on issues.
- Makes you more tolerant: When travelling you will meet people that are very different from you. If you travel enough, you will learn to accept and appreciate these differences. Travelling makes you more open and accepting.
- Become more cultured: Everywhere you can go has its own history and way of thought/behaviour that make it unique. Travelling to places with rich cultures, famous historical incidents and well known sights can change you into a more cultured individual with more knowledge about the world.
- Become a citizen of the world: As the technology and the Internet are rapidly advancing, the world is becoming a more globalized place. It’s important for us to know what is happening in cities and countries nationally & internationally because nowadays it has an effect on everyone, regardless of where you are. Being aware of national and international issues is becoming more and more significant, and the ability to see and experience these issues firsthand can help bring you a unique insight.
- Provides you with unforgettable moments and experiences: Some of the most cherished memories are from the times when one was travelling. If you travel, you can experience things that you could never experience at home. You may see beautiful places and landscapes that do not exist where you live. You may meet people that will change your life, and your thinking. You may try activities that you have never tried before. It provides you with stories you can tell your friends, family and even your children and grandchildren.
- Have an open mind: Meeting people with ideas that differ from yours, living in places with governments, economies and social values that differ from those of your home, and experiencing a way of life that you may find to be better or worse than what you’re accustomed to, allows you to have a fresh outlook and keep an open mind.
- Makes you more confident and independent: Travelling will actually make you more independent and confident. You will realise that you can cope with a lot of unexpected situations. You will realise that you can survive without all that help that is always available for you at home. You will likely find out that you are much stronger and braver than you have expected.
